Why Volunteer at LISNS?

There are a lot of great reasons to volunteer with LISNS. Here are just a few:

LISNS offers access for everyone in Nova Scotia to understand the law.

  • LISNS empowers people to change their lives.
  • LISNS really does care.
  • And most importantly - because we can't do it all by ourselves and we need your support.

LISNS offers Nova Scotians many programs and services, all of which require the work of more people than are employed at the Society. We need the help of volunteers to deliver the quality of service we offer.

Volunteer positions currently open at LISNS:

*Please Note: You do not have to be a Board member to volunteer on committees.

I turned to LISNS when my partner and I decided to move in together. He had three children, and I wanted to understand my rights and obligations as a step-parent. There was lots of information out there about divorce, custody, and access, but I could find nothing about my role as a new parental figure in the life of these children. I had personal, private – and important – questions, and nowhere to turn. I called the LISNS help line and got the answers I needed. Answers that enabled me to understand my situation and make better decisions as a result. Amelia, LISNS caller
